Wordsworth Grasmere has been shortlisted in the Permanent Exhibition of the Year category of the Museums & Heritage Awards.
Known as the Oscars of the Museum world the Museums & Heritage Awards celebrate the very best in the world of museums, galleries, cultural and heritage visitor attractions.
Wordsworth Grasmere opened in 2021 after a multi-million-pound transformation. The family-friendly attraction offers visitors a unique opportunity to be inspired by William and Dorothy Wordsworth’s words, in the very place where they were written. Michael McGregor, the Director at Wordsworth Grasmere, said,
To have been shortlisted for a Museums & Heritage Award is a tremendous achievement. We are delighted that the judges have recognised the potential of what has been created here. We also hope that this national recognition will be a shot in the arm for Cumbria as a whole, as its visitor economy recovers from the Covid-19 pandemic.
Wordsworth Grasmere was created with the support of the National Lottery Heritage Fund and other funders.The overall winners of the Museums & Heritage Awards will be announced at a ceremony in London on 11 May.
