The parents of Stephen Salt who was killed whilst cycling on the A591 on Sunday have paid tribute to a loving son.
They said: “Stephen lived in the Morecambe area all of his life where he worked as a postman. He had a keen interest in all things sport. He was a Manchester United season ticket holder and an ardent follower of his team. Stephen loved the outdoors and was a very keen cyclist and runner. Stephen leaves behind his parents David and Marion. He also leaves his sister Heather and brother in law Andrew.”
Mr. Salt, aged 46, of Elms Drive, Morecambe, was involved in a collision that occurred at around 8.15pm on Sunday 12th January 2012, close to Prizet Filling Station.
He was riding his bicycle when he was in a collision with a red Seat Ibiza which was being driven by a 29 year old woman from the Lancaster area who was an off duty police officer from Cumbria Constabulary, and a green Skoda Fabia driven by a 49 year old woman from the Dalton in Furness area. Both cars, and Mr Salt, were travelling in the same direction along the A591 from Prizet towards the M6 when the collision happened.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or had seen the Mr Salt before the collision to contact Cumbria Constabulary’s Roads Policing Unit on the non-emergency number, 101.
