Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team rescued a walker on Scafell Pike.
The team were called out by the police at around 3.15 pm on Sunday, January 22 to assist a 51 year old woman fell walker with a suspected broken ankle.
She was descending from the summit of Scafell Pike in a group of four when she suffered a stumble fall just above Lingmell Col.
One of our team leaders, who was already on the fell, gave casualty care before the arrival of the rest of the team. A member from Coniston mountain rescue team was also on scene. The casualty was given analgesia and her leg was splinted before the stretcher carry and sledge down to Backenclose via Lingmell Nose.
A spokesperson for Wasdale MRT said: “We were very grateful to have the assistance of 12 members of the Duddon and Furness mountain rescue team. The incident closed at 8.30 p.m. Weather was windy with occasional rain / sleet showers at the higher level. Visibility was low cloud initially which cleared later in the afternoon.”
